Default Revised Materials Declaration Forms

I received this e-mail today.

Dear users of IPC 1752-1 and 1752-2

As many of you know, last week we experienced a problem with the released 1752-1 and 1752-2 version 1.0 forms. The problem was caused by the inadvertent inclusion of a time clock during the finalization of the Adobe forms which prevented their use after June 1, 2006. We realize that this has caused a significant inconvenience for you and your suppliers - please accept our sincere apologies. In the past few days, we have been working very hard to implement a solution that will be as painless as possible.

We are pleased to provide you with a solution to the date expiration problem.

1. New form Link http://members.ipc.org/committee/dra...52-2_v1.01.zip

The link above will lead to a page for an updated set of forms identified as version 1.01. Please note: the existing standards (IPC-1751 and IPC-1752) as well as the User's Guide (IPC-1752-3) have not changed, so they are not included in the download link. These replacement forms no longer have the problem with the expiration date. We ask that you download the 1.01 version, incorporate them into your systems. The 1.01 versions will function exactly the same as the original 1.0 versions, without the date restrictions. You can (and should) begin using these forms immediately in place of the 1.0 version. There are no problems or changes to the XML schema or the XML instance file.

2. What about forms already in use? Regarding the existing 1752-1 and 1752-2 forms, we have an interim workaround and a more final solution.

2a. Workaround - In the interim, two options are available - the first is to change the system clock of your computer to an earlier date so that the data may be used and saved as appropriate. The second option is to use Adobe Professional(r) for opening the forms and saving it either in XML for importation into custom software or updated forms. A 30-day free trial of Adobe Professional is available at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/tryout.html.

2b. More final solution - Adobe Systems is working with a solution provider to provide a secure, web-based system to re-enable 1.0 forms and remove the time restriction on existing forms." We hope to have this tool ready in 2 weeks and will send a link out to all users.

We thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Default Another version released

Here is the latest e-mail from IPC.

Quote:
To all users of 1752-1 and 1752-2 forms:

Following the difficulties some of you experienced with the IPC 1752-1 and IPC 1752-2 forms due to the inadvertent inclusion of a date code, we have instituted a more robust testing protocol. While it is of course impossible to detect all errors, we hope to avoid breakdowns like those experienced on June 1st.

When we ran the recently distributed 1.01 versions of 1752-1 and 1752-2 through the updated testing protocol, we discovered that there is still an embedded date code. While the 1.01 versions will work for the rest of 2006, we recommend replacing them with v. 1.02 which is now available on the IPC website at:

http://www.ipc.org/IPC-175x

or you can download a zip file containing just the forms here:
