I Say... Article about Discipline Related to Quality/Environmental Management System

Hi to all!

Does anyone have a good article about "Discipline"?
Related to Quality/Environmental Management System
that can be applied from Top Management down to
operator level and can easily understood by them.

the word "discipline" in connection with work always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. What kind of discipline are you referring to? Which of the following definitions?

dis·ci·pline
n.
  1. Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.
  2. Controlled behavior resulting from disciplinary training; self-control.

  3. a) Control obtained by enforcing compliance or order.
    b) A systematic method to obtain obedience: (a military discipline.)
    c) A state of order based on submission to rules and authority:
(a teacher who demanded discipline in the classroom.)
  4. Punishment intended to correct or train.
  5. A set of rules or methods, as those regulating the practice of a church or monastic order.
  6. A branch of knowledge or teaching.
1, 2, & 6 seem reasonable in this context; 3, 4, & 5 do not.

A good article about discilpine? There may be 10,000 or more tried and true and BS methods. How about an article about identifying the causes for discilpine in the 1st place?
