Default Re: Default Sorting of Threads in Individual Forums

I prefer sorting by date rather than title. The first word of the title doesn't always give any indication as to the subject matter and sorting this way won't result in similar threads being grouped, so I see little value in doing it like that. I'm obviously glad to be corrected if I've missed something.

When I log on to the Cove I always view threads using the "Posts Last 24 Hours" and/or "Since Last Visit" facilities, as I find searching within a chronological context is easier.

Default Re: Default Sorting of Threads in Individual Forums

I went with the chronological option since it keeps the more current threads at the top.

Baldrick made an excellent point regarding the titles of threads. If someone is looking for a specific item or trying to answer a particular question they will need to do a search anyway to narrow the scope.

I generally look at what is going on currently and rarely use either the 24 hour or since last visit. Although they are handly if you've been away for awhile.

Likewise, for the reasons already mentioned by Baldrick & James.

Default Re: Default Sorting of Threads in Individual Forums

I, too, prefer the chronological sort although it may be more from habit than anything else. I use the "Since Last Visit" almost exclusively and would probably get lost if anything changed now

I agree with Baldrick and the others....chronological is best for me. I always check "Posts Last 24 Hours" when I log onto the Cove.

Thanks for asking, Marc.
