Re: PPAP 4º + IMDS - Heavy Metals Laws - Help
I think you are probably referring to the RoHS directive. This bans the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether.
The fines depend upon the country which is shipped to. The UK fine is upto £5000. The Ireland fine is upto 15,000,000 Euros.
You can find which countries the RoHS directive applies to at:
http://gbcode.tdctrade.com/gb/www.td.../euweeenew.htm
More information on RoHS can be found at:

Re: PPAP 4º + IMDS - Heavy Metals Laws - Help
In the UK, offences against the ELV directive are punishable by a fine. The severity of the offence determines which level of court will deal with the case.
For a relatively minor offence it can be dealt with in a magistrates court and on summary conviction subject to a fine at level 5 in the standard scale. (I think that's about £20 000 but don't rely on that figure).
A more serious offence will land you in the Crown court where there is no upper limit to the level of the fine.
Rules will be different in other countries.
