Please Help! CE Marking for cast iron, cast steel, and bronze Industrial Valves

I´ve searched this forum but found mostly info on CE marking for medical devices... does anyone have any experience in CE marking for industrial valves (cast iron, cast steel, bronze). Where can I get info on how to obtain the CE marking for our products?

thanks !

No endorsement implied, but it looks like you might be able to get some useful information from cemarking.net.

Are they electrically operated or safety valves? You can determine the appropriate directive from this list.

I think Ted should contact their representative from BRTUV. TUV, I believe, is also a Notified Body for many European Directives. CE-Marking can be a convoluted subject, especially when several directives might apply to a product.

And, differently from Management System Certification, a Notified Body might provide advisory to their clients without being concerned about conflict of interest.

Hi, Ted!

The company I worked for was certified (CE marking). Which information exactly do you need? I did a research in Brazil by myself (for valves also), so I can help you. Two years ago, Tüv Rheinland was the only one able to do it (and the auditor was a Germany who lives in Argentina - the Brazilian Auditor was in training period), with 3 or 4 customers being assessed (I am not sure if I can write their names in thie forum). The others have experience only in medical devices, like you said.

As our main plant was in Germany, the decision was to certify the whole valve there, and we have certified our supplier for raw material (cast iron).

If you are certified already, CE Marking means another assessment focused on the product and process. Acording to the pressure class of your products, you have a different type of requirements.

I have alrady written here a link which explains these details, I'll look for it and if I find I'll put it here, OK?

Regards!

Here is the site that gives a lot of information and the Directive for pressure vessels:

Thanks a million Jim, Al, Sidney and Alekra !! I knew I could count on this forum for some insight. I´ll check the sites, check with BRTUV, and the posts that Alekra mentioned... will get back to you guys !

Al, our valves are mainly manually operated... some butterfly valves can be eletrically or pneumatically operated, but at the moment I´m not looking at CE Marking for that type of valve.

Thanks again !!
