Change in Body of Knowledge - ASQ Certified Sixsigma Blackbelt
Please note that there is a Change to the Body of Knowledge (BOK) of ASQ Certification- Six sigma Black belt (CSSBB).
This Change takes effect from Oct 2007 exam.
http://www.asq.org/certification/six-sigma/bok-07.html
The comparison between current the New BOK is provided in the link:
http://www.asq.org/certification/doc...mpare-0607.pdf
I did some quick review of the changes. My first impression was that the BOK has been softened by removing some of the heavy Statistical tools and made it more passable for “Transactional SSBB”. More Lean tools have crept in.
I also noticed besides the change in the comparison table, there are many changes to cognition level, rephrase of subsections, etc. There are many interesting additions and deletions.
I am continuing with my personal detailed review. I will upload after my completion.
Mean while let me know your thoughts on this BOK change.
Regards,
Govind.

Re: Change in Body of Knowledge - ASQ Certified Sixsigma Blackbelt
Govind,
Just curious about this certification, as requirement is asking for 2 project work related to six sigma. If you don't have project work, is there any way to deal with it or not?
Thanks,

Priyal,
It is very clearly mentioned in the ASQ webpage that without Projects you cannot sit for the Black Belt Exam.
http://www.asq.org/certification/faq...affidavit.html
“Six Sigma Black Belt requires two completed projects with signed affidavits or one completed project with signed affidavit and three years of work experience within the Six Sigma Body of Knowledge.”
If you have 3 or more years of Work Experience in SSBB BOK you can get approved with 1 project.
There is no requirement that your organization should have officially embraced Sixsigma like Motorola, GE, Honeywell, etc. As long as you follow the project requirement laid out in the page http://www.asq.org/certification/faq...a-project.html you should be fine.
If you don’t have any opportunity to do a Sixsigma project in your organization, you may write Six sigma Green belt. There is no project requirement for this exam.
Regards,
Govind.

Re: Change in Body of Knowledge - ASQ Certified Sixsigma Blackbelt
Hi Govind,
bit confused but would like to take atleast one certification to upgrade myself.
i am working full time so i am not sure i have enough time for CQE, the another reason a more statstics in CQE, so i would like to go for Green Belt.
What do you think is it good to go for Green Belt instead of CQE, by considering above 2 reason.
i do have knowlege of ISO 9001 & 14001, so what about CQA?
i cant decide which way should i have to take?
if you can guide me then its great help from your side.
thanks a lot

Re: Change in Body of Knowledge - ASQ Certified Sixsigma Blackbelt
Armaan,
I believe you should probably start with the certification that most closely matches what you do and your current level of expertise. The ASQ website has a guide to the various certifications at
http://www.asq.org/certification/right-for-you.html
And the is a fairly extensive amount of discussion of certification issues at
http://www.asq.org/discussionBoards/...spa?forumID=52
It is very difficult to judge someone else's knowledge level and goals, so as to be able to give good advice on something like this, especially when the discussion is on line!
If there is an ASQ Section near you,I would go to a section meeting. I have found that the ASQ members who actually go to meetings are almost invariably willing to answer questions and otherwise mentor a newcomer.
Good Luck!
