Hello every body , who can answer this question: If you are a supplier for an Automobile manufacturing plant to prepare a new design and your final product is a vehicle prototype with all design document( DFMEA/ Prototype Control plan, caddata, 2d&3d drawing, ...) when should recomend an action to reduce the risk. suppose that you prepared the 1/1 model of design and you are suppose to start parts and system design , you prepared DFMEA documents for new design and complete the form up to RPN,but you didn't fill any recomended action. Is it acceptable that you should wait until prototype will be completed and when you see the problem then you will recomend some action is it an acceptable way according to standard . I think we must recomend corective action for high risk failure whenever we issue the FMEA documents and we shouldn't wait until preparing prototype ,although we can revise the DFMEA documents whenever it is necessary . I don't Know if my Idea is correct or not and I don't have any teoreticall base. Please help me to solve this problem
As I understand it, in a DFMEA a prototype is typically a (or part of a) recommended action just as testing is. Do you use the prototype for testing purposes?
The recommended action from a DFMEA should be incorporated into the design as it is identified during the FMEA process. You certainly do not have to wait until you make a prototype to take the action. In fact, most car companies would rather you incorporated the recommended actions into the prototype prior to sending to them or submitting for testing, especially for high risk items or ones that affect special characteristics. The earlier in the APQP process you fix a potential design issue, the better off you will be.
