ISO 9001 in a Service Operation
A short question: I have a contact that wants to register to ISO 9001, the operation is strictly a service operation. How to do this is the question. Waive all the non-applicable sections?
Thanks in advance!

Of course you'll waive all non-applicable sections. The twist lies in defining and justifying the non-applicability. This has to be decided on a case to case basis. Your particular business will have to be analysed as a specific case and a QMS will need to be defined for your business contours.

Re: ISO 9001 in a Service Operation
Since this is a pure service operation, what about going for 9002 or 9003, instead of 9001?

Brad,
Unfortunately 9002 or 9003 dont exist. They expired sometime in 2003.

Hello Bob,
List all your processes within your equipment rental business; from initial contact with the customer all the way to the equipment delivery/pickup; including invoicing and possible customer feedback.
Now look at ISO 9001:2000, what requirements within Section 7 do not apply?
For example, if you do not perform inspections and testing, you can exclude Clause 7.6. Remember, exclusions are limited to section 7.
Hope this helps.
Stijloor.

You may find there is really not that much that is "Not Applicable." However, typically, there will be a numbe rof sub-clauses that may be rare, but occasional. Just define those that are completely not-applicable, and explain why in your manual.
