Unhappy Problems with our internal auditors having a lack of motivation

We are experiencing problems with our auditors having a lack of motivation. They seem to loose interest after the first couple of audits and since our auditing team is made up of volunteers there isn't a lot one can do. Is there any information available on auditor motivation?

Question

There is an interesting thread at the beginning of The Cove called Internal Auditing. It offers some insights into problems and benefits that arise from using volunteer auditors vs. outsourcing vs. using full time auditors. From the various posted replies one can get a *feel* of what might work best in their own work environment. There are no easy answers, for sure, but here in The Cove you have the experience of the many professionals with good, solid, sound advice.
