Re: New EU Regulation: REACh Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals
Thanks, Ralf.
I've seen lots of information on REACH but didn't realise the automotive industry was getting involved too. This is going to take a while to read.
Re: New EU Regulation: REACh Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals
Yap,
we need to get moving, not wondering. It's about ime to do so.
If you are working in the automotive supply chain (or not), then you have now a better tool to adopt REACh for your company rather than reading the 850 page EU regulation.
Now you can follow the AIG document and get your company ready.
I attached another good document, also coming from those organizations:
The Inventory Matrix.
Try it out - it helped me a lot.
Good luck !

Re: New EU Regulation: REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals)
Hi,
I've been involved in a REACH program for some time now, in the "white-goods" industrie.
The flowcharts, that were given by AIG, are the same as I've found in an Orgalime guidance document.
When my projectleader, and myself tried to paint the landscape for the implications that REACH would have in our business, we based ourseleves on these flowcharts.
The major problem here, is that these flowcharts ONLY can be used as a sort of "Quick-screen" charts, but they do not reflect the law in detail.
What I mean is that for the bit of articles (where your company might be seen as a "producer" of articles), the need for notificatiion towards Echa, and your information obligation are not well enough described in these quick screens. The number of "escape" points is much larger in the actual law.
After we worked for several weeks on the painting of our landscape, we came across these facts while consulting another party in our company who did have another interpretation of the law, than these quick screen flowcharts.
My advice, don't take them for granted.
If any questions, I'll be more than happy to reply to them.
As I don't know in which area's you might be interested, I find it hard to give a good attachment in this post, but when questions pop-up I could make them more direct.
REACH will have an impact on the supply base, and my opinion is that the big chemical companys will fullfill their Registration Obligation. The smaller ones will sit-back, and hope for the best....
