Question Value of a Lead Auditor Course - Immigration to Canada of Process Engineering PhD

Hello everyone,

I am planning to immigrate to Quebec ( canada) in few months. I hold a phD in process enginerering with an experience in pharmaceutical and chemical industry and I worked also on certification of the pharmaceutical company in which i was workin in Algeria, but I didn't got a managerial position, I was just paricipating to write some procedures. So do you think that 2 days of a training course of QMS internal auditor will be an asset which enhance my chances to find a job in Canada?

Default Re: RABQSA and IRCA Lead Auditor Requirements

Compared to a PhD, probably not, it'll may be understood that you received some basic information about auditing and QMS requirements. What would be of more value I think would be your ability to speak and understand French.

Hi Noelle,

As someone who lives and works in Montreal, I do not believe that you need to take any ISO courses. There is a large pharmaceutical and chemical industry in Quebec and if you have good experience and speak a little French, you should have no problems finding a job.

Hello there! We're glad you found the Cove! If you would like, you can post your resume for us to look at and review. A couple of questions:

1. Are you really set on Canada? It might expand your opportunities if you maybe included America in there? It's perfectly OK if you don't want to work in America, just wondering.

2. Are there any opportunities around you to get any experience auditing? Even if they pay little/nothing, they may still benefit your career.

3. If you're really interested in Canada, you might PM Danny and get a little more information.

Check back with us, and let us know how things are going.

I am also Canadian but not from Quebec but I have designed ISO compliant quality systems in two (2) manufacturing companies in the Montreal area. You need to speak French and that will get you in the door. Don't worry about auditing when you have a great education but you need French since it is the language of business there.

It's both time wasting and expensive to recruit some one and find out later that he/she had problem adapting to the adopted land or organization.

You had so far focused on the hard part - the qualifications and what nots. I am sure any potential employer would also like to gage your ability or willingness to accept and adapt a foreign culture. In this aspect, an 'open' heart and mind would be an asset.
