The Numbers - Post Count Changes and Such... 11DEC2007
I had to do a deep rebuild to the forum database. This was a very comprehensive rebuild. Please expect some of your numbers to change a bit, such as post counts and 'Reputation' (aka Karma).
Questions? Please reply in this discussion thread.

As long as it goes up, that's fine!
Marc, that stuff is just window dressing, and not really that important to me. I greatly, truly appreciate the hours and effort you give to the site.
If you can keep that stuff, fine. If not, no big deal. Just let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Essentially I baselined everything. By that I mean, for example, if someone posted and that post was deleted for what ever reason (such as posts in an old thread that was deleted as obsolete or such), it wasn't 'deducted' from the person's post count - Until now. Reputations (aka Karma) were also recalculated.

Re: The Numbers - Post Count, Karma Changes and Such... 11DEC2007 Database Rebuild
I've gotten several inqueries already this morning so I'm bumping this thread.

Re: The Numbers - Post Count Changes and Such... 11DEC2007
This issue has come up again, so for a reminder:
Karma numbers and 'Thanks' counts *should* have stayed the same.
All post counts went down because everyone had posts in purged threads and such. There is also the factor of posts in the Coffee Break forum. This was discussed last month, if I remember correctly. Posts in the Coffee Break and Joke forum do not count towards post count. But.... This has been set differently over the years. At one time posts in the Coffee Break forum did count. When numbers were recalculated, they were calculated on current 'rule sets'. Note that for moderators, posts in the moderator's forum don't 'count' either, but as with Coffee Break forum post count 'rule set', this has changed a couple of times over the years, so moderators may be more affected than everyone else.
This is all about my having done a deep database rebuild and recalculation of all the numbers. As you all know, I recently migrated the server. A lot of things changed as things like Apache, php, perl and MySQL are now running the latest stable versions. This has caused a few problems, most of which I have solved, but server stability has been improved significantly.
What I am relatively sure most of you don't know is that there is a significant vBulletin software upgrade which is near release. When the official stable version 3.7 software is released I will be upgrading this server. The deep rebuild was to ensure the database is ready for the transition.
If any of you have any question(s), please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: The Numbers - Post Count Changes and Such... 11DEC2007
Since January, I seem to have received a number of thanks and associated 'Karma' as per my post header. The problem is my user CP does not give details of who has thanked me for what post.
Karma per say is immaterial but knowing who agrees with what post is as important as knowing who disagrees. The disagreement normally reaches you in a reply post. The agreement?

If you open your own user profile, there's a link on the left that says something like, "Find all thanked posts..." You can click on that see who's thanking you.

If everyone will agree, I can 're-link' them and make it something like 1 Karma point for a thanks to make the 'Thanks' show up in the Karma list like they did before.
To me it's not a big deal one way or the other.
