Forum Thread Listings in a Forum View - Sorting Threads in a Discussion Forum
Clicking on any of the column headers will sort the forum by that attribute.

Sorting Threads in a Forum - Default Thread Sorting in Forums
Marc, need to clarify one point -
in this forum of "Elsmar Cove Forum TOS, Policies and Procedures", the Display Options are different from the rest of the posts.
This forum is sorted by "Thread Title" and not by "Last PostTime" as in other forums and also sort order is ascending instead of descending.
Thus this post went somewhere in between the chain of threads and not on the top as for rest of the forums.

Re: Default Thread Sorting in Forums
Typically discussion threads in a forum are by date of last post being the first listed. This type of listing is the 'default'.
However, in both the "Elsmar Cove Forum TOS, Policies and Procedures" forum and the "Definitions, Acronyms, Abbreviations and Interpretations" forum I want to keep threads listed alphabetically so in those forums the listing is alphabetical starting with posts whose title begins with 'A'.
However, every user can change the way threads are sorted in a forum listing. Here are the two places on every forum listing page where you can change the way the discussion threads in the forum are listed:
Near the top of the listing
At the bottom of the page

Re: Default Thread Sorting in Forums
Marc, this is a great learning for me - the more I learn about the forum software, the more is to be "explored"

Forum Listing View of Threads - 080928
Changes to the vBulletin 'Stock' listing of discussion threads in individual forum displays:
Stock Display for sorting discussion threads in forum listings:
OLD - Pre 080928
Stock - Top of forum discussion thread listing:
Stock - Bottom of forum discussion thread listing:
**********************************************
NEW - 080928
New Mod - Top of forum discussion thread listing:
New Mod - Bottom of forum discussion thread listing:

NOTE: Discussion threads in forum discussion thread listings (individual forum 'displays') can still be sorted by the 'traditional' vBulletin 'stock' methods detailed in Post 1 and Post 3 in this thread.
I put in this 'template mod' on 080928 with the hope that thread sorting options are more 'obvious' to people.
Comments welcome.
