The only answer I can give is "It depends!"

It depends on

1. whose test? ASQ? John Doe? "we certify you for a price?"
2. The background and experience of the testee
3. Black Belt? Green belt? Yellow? Rainbow?
4. Study materials used
5. Practice and experience taking any kind of test
6. The amount of sleep the night before the test

Two tips:

1. Stay hydrated
2. Plan bio breaks

I took the ASQ exam in March 2004 and passed. Due to the scope of the body of knowledge, preparing for the test was intense. I purchased the Primer from the Quality Council of Indiana and used it as my primary study guide. I also supplemented that with some external training (Engnineering/ BB Statistics) and some local six sigma forums.
