Will TS16949 supersede QS-9000? Is QS-9000 Dead Meat?

With referance to TS 16949:
1)Will it supersede QS-9000?
2)Can a company be registered to ISO/TS 16949?
3)How does the revision of the ISO 9001: 2000 standard influence the automotive industry?

The answers will be highly appreciated!

I'd be very interested to see the answer to these, particularly what effect the Y2K version of ISO 9000 will have on QS9000 / TS16949.

See Elsmar.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000014.html and Elsmar.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000009.html I think it's pretty obvious QS-9000 is for all intents and purposes dead. I'll bet you money it will not be revised again. I'll give it 3 years but its importance has already been seriously diminished.

Read Elsmar.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000036.html - a company just went through it. I asked the person who the registrar was in the thread and the person replied that he would not reveal the registrar's name. This leads me to wonder whether it was a real registration. I cannot for the life of me understand why a registrar would care if their name was mentioned. Most registrars like to 'advertise' their clients and how many companies they have registered.

It affects ISO as it evolves (consider the 'new' Customer Satisfaction focus).
