Question Accounting Procedures - Is it necessary to include basic accounting steps?

When you are documenting all of your procedures, is it necessary to include basic accounting steps? All of the material I have been reading, seems to leave accounting steps out. For example, most flow charts for purchasing don't involve receiving payment from the customer or billing, etc.. Does ISO not care about that as much in a manufacturing/integration environment?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Accounting Procedures

All that is really cared about are those things necessary to meet customer requirements and achieve customer satisfaction. If your accounting practices fall within those parameters they have to be identified and controlled, if they don't then move on to more important things.

Re: Accounting Procedures

What Randy said.

ISO9001 doesn't much care about the financials of accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Doesn't mean it can't help the organization to document the processes though - I've found that to be a trouble spot that impacts internal customers.
