BIG Smile The basics of TL9000 - Where Can I get some info?

Where can I get some basics of TL9000. I am hearing through the grapevine that my work place intends to begin adopting this standard. Anyone have any electronic format info on it that could be forwarded?

Jerry,

The TL 9000 Standard is an extension to ISO 9001:2000 developed for the telecoms industry by The QuEST Forum. This body started off comprising US Service Providers and larger suppliers but has now grown to be global.

The standard aims to create real customer satisfaction improvements, but the emphasis is very much on the satisfaction of the traditional telco service providers!

Find out more at the QuEST Forum website www.questforum.org/mainhome.html

PS What has happened to the previous 10 posts in this forum?

There's a setting near the top of each threads listing page which says something like "Show Topics From..." You'll probably have to set it for Show All Topics.

I don't think there were 10 messages in this forum. I found 4. We haven't had many people visit here who are into TL. As you pointed out, the QuEST site is the focal point.

I've left the forum up even though there isn't any real dialogue going on - just in case, so to speak.

BIG Smile

My suspicion is that this will become an emerging topic. My company just posted a position on this topic in the last few weeks as to what they intend to do over the next few years with this standard.

And because apparently it is a pretty new standard, we may still be on the early edge of companies in the US complying.

Yeah. It may become popular. I started the forum back in January, I think. What you will find, I suspect, is that as with the AS 9000 spec, the niche of companies involved is rather small (as opposed to the ISO 9001 applicability) so - at least for this site - there won't be any significant traffic. It'll focus somewhere else.

But -- you never know!

Unless the current recession in the industry causes telecoms companies to reduce their activity in TL 9000, it is going to grow in depth and broaden its scope. Proposals are being discussed that would require suppliers to provide quality data from their own in-process measurements, like first time pass rate, SW bugs found, etc. Big brother is everywhere!

Maybe not many telecom companies view this forum?

I found the missing postings - you were right - I had preferences set to view topics up to 60 days old, and the others were older!

-> Maybe not many telecom companies view this forum?

Correct. It's (like quality assurance in general, actually) a 'niche' group. Most of the folks here are ISO 9K or automotive folks.

Does the TL9000 standard apply to semiconductors used in the telecom industry? Non of my competitors are touting "TL9000 certified" but this is a fairly new standard. Since this is a new standard, I'm having difficulty in finding resources that can answer these questions. I've visitied the Quest web sight, but was wondering if there is more.
