Please Help! VDA Product Submission Form - Please help a Cove newbie answer a VDA question

Quote:
Moderator explanation:
This thread is copied from a post in the "introduce yourself" forum. The thrust of the question is:
I was asked to find VDA standards and a copy of a 'submission form'. This was a new request for me. I found the forum by accident through google, took a look and thought it might be helpful for me to belong.
So, here's my problem for the forum: the only information the employee gave me is; find a copy of the VDA Product Submission Form. After stumbling around the intenet & the VDA website, I decided that I needed help. So....HELP!
Thanks,
Carol

I thought you'd also like to know a little about the person you'll be helping so I copied over her original introduction, too!
HI All, I'll take a stab at this;

1. Name: Carol W.
2. Job Title: Associate Librarian - I research current topics, provide copies of standards, and other typical library jobs.
3. Industry- I work for a diversified company in the Aerospace and Automotive Industries
4Length of time in quality function- I have never worked in quality but interface with them in providing copies of standards and other documents necessary.
6. Something personal that sets you apart - I'm also an artist and have developed by own style of gentle charicatures.
7. Your pet peeve in quality- Since I'm in the library, I'll tell you my pet peeve in the library-- the person who comes in and wants to know where that red (or yellow or blue or green) book that he took out last year is. Sometimes, I think it would be best if all the books were arranged by color rather than Library of Congress.
8. I end with how I found the forum & why I joined it.
So....HELP!
Thanks,
Carol

Welcome Carol,

Our European and German friends should be able to help you but first, you need to be specific - which particular VDA standard and forms (if possible which particular clause are you trying to address) are you talking about?

Hello, Howard,
Thank you for the Exel Workbook!
I'm forwarded it to the employee who requested information. He will let me know if it is whqt he needs.
How or where did you find this? Is the VDA the best source for purchasing their standards? In the US, I use Global Engineering Documents and its parent Information Handling Services (IHS) www.global.ihs.com www.ihs.com I also use ANSI www.ansi.org. The VDA is new to me but i have a feeling that I will need more in the future.
I'm always looking to increase my knowledge.
Harry had posed the questions about what specifically I needed. As so often happens in libraries, the customer doesn't know him/her self so we work together to narrow the field. I had already asked those things of the employee but he has not yet answered me.
Thanks again!
Carol

We have purchased the VDA standard (volume 2 and so on) directly from the VDA in Germany (some electronic and some hard copy). The hard copies were shipped out the same day and within a few they arrived.

VDA has a long list of standards. Determine if you need all of them (probably not).
