Please Help! Difference between Component Maintenance and Aircraft Maintenance Manual (CMM/AMM)

What is the difference between a Component Maintenance Manual and an Aircraft Maintenance Manual. We manufacture components and then install them in an aircraft to form a system. Is the AMM perhaps a more related to the system which will include the maintenance of components?

Default Re: Difference between Component Maintenance and Aircraft Maintenance Manual (CMM/AMM

AMM or airplane maintance manual does not require FAA approval where CMM or Component Maintance Manual is part of the technical data approved by the FAA in our case as part of the TSO.

Question Re: Difference between Component Maintenance and Aircraft Maintenance Manual (CMM/AMM

We use an independant company as our Design organisation- would they need to approve the AMM and CMM. We are a production approved organsiation that install our systems on airlines but they are overseen and released by the airline personell. Although we can produce the manuals does our DOA have to approve these?
