Question Where do TURTLE diagrams come from?

Once I've been told that TURTLE diagrams are definide by a BSI standard.
Is it true? I search something about it but I found nothing.

Is TURTLE part of any standard definition? Where does it came from?

Regards,

Alessandro

Re: Where does TURTLE diagrams came from?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a BSI Standard for Turtles, but I've never seen or heard of it (I work for BSI)

Don't waste your time looking for it, just look at the information we have here in the Cove if you need to know.

Alessandro,

Plexus International claims to have "invented" the Turtle Diagram and uses it extensively during the training of ISO/TS 16949 auditors. In actuality, the diagram originated at Philip Crosby Associates. It was called a "Spider Diagram" I believe.

Good process analysis tools indeed, but not required. Don't fall in the turtles trap if you do not see value in them. Use what makes sense for your organization.

Stijloor.

Re: Where do TURTLE diagrams come from?

I dont believe that turtle diagrams are mandatory, they certainly arent in TS16949.

As to there origins, well they look very similar to IDEF0 style process maps, which have been around for donkeys years (as we say over here).
