Default Best Way around or through Atlanta

I will be driving to Florida from Detroit next week. What is everyone's favorite way through or around ATL? I would be going through on Good Friday morning, maybe slightly before the height of rush hour.

I hear there's a new parkway around the west side? Or is that just a rumor?

Thanks.

Just a thought, but if you're passing through Chattanooga, TN, there are some worthwhile things to stop and see there. They call it the Scenic City for a reason - great views all around...

Sounds like a good road trip - have fun and travel safely!

Stijloor.
If it is early enough, take a deep breath and go straight through. After 5:30 AM or so, I285 is likely the best bet. Be sure to listen to the radio and make the decision when you get close. There is also a phone number you can call (sorry, don't know it, but it is posted on the road) to get real time traffic info.

I don't know if they have Freaknik still, or if it would be that weekend, but if they do, and it is, may I suggest Hilton Head SC instead?

Usually the traffic in ATL, while heavy, moves at a good pace. But, if there is a wreck (or, God forbid, a snowflake ) all bets are off.
