Profiles - Visitor Messaging - A Brief FAQ. Note Post 2 in the discussion thread.
1. Leaving a Visitor Message on someone's Profile Page will add the message to their Profile page,
and it will notify the person whose page it is that someone has left a New Visitor Message.
Message Listing Order: The newest message is on top. That is, messages are sorted newest first, oldest last. There is no way to change the sort order.
2. Replying to a Visitor Message that someone has left you:
You have 2 choices.
a. You can Reply in the reply box.
This will leave a reply on your Profile page.
It will
NOT notify the person who left the message that you have replied to their message. The person who left the message will have to visit your Profile page to see if you have replied there.
b. You can reply by Viewing the Conversation. This starts (or continues) a One - on - One 'Conversation' where a participant is notified if the other person replies.
NOTES: On - on - One conversations are visible by everyone. They are
NOT private.
The main purpose of One-on-One conversations is the Notification feature.
On - on - One conversations make the most sense because they make use of the Notifications system.
If you have
no Notifications, you will see this at the top right of every page in the forum:
You will see the Private Messages link which will take you to your Private Messages page.
When You Have a 'Notification'
The 'Private Messages link will change to a 'Notices' link.
There are a number of 'Notifications' the software will advise you of. Click the Notifications link:
This Drop Down list will appear:

The above 'Drop Down' menu is what an Admin sees. You will not see all the Notification announcements an Admin sees, but you get the idea.
OK - Back to the Visitor Message stuff. Here are the main screens:
