Seal or Logo of gluten-free foods that gluten intolerant people look for
Dear All,
Which seal / logo of gluten-free foods that people intolerant to gluten would look for? I found Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO) and CSA recognition seal from google search but I want to know if their seal / logo is recognized in US. I would appreciate your recommendation on which logo I should go.
Thank you in advance

I can speak from experience. My husband has Celiac Disease.
Yes - that seal is recognized in the United States. But I would also suggest that you place in bold letters on the packaging "Gluten Free". Many non-specialty foods (items not produced specifically for Celiacs) do this to attract shoppers.

This is an excellent suggestion. I have a coworker who cannot have gluten, and his wife (fantastic lady) goes to great lengths to avoid gluten, while providing tasty eating. This is no small feat here in rural Georgia.
I avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup, and there are a few products that have "HFCS Free" on their label. They often end up in my shopping cart. While people who avoid certain ingredients are in the minority, they tend to be very loyal shoppers, and are customers that are worth a little extra effort to attract.

Trust me - this is no small feat in Northern Illinois. But my husband is very grateful for all I do for him in the kitchen - he loves to brag to his buddies at work that he doesn't miss eating out when he is married to such a fabulous cook.

I apologize if your level of awareness is far beyond this response.
You should be aware that any such statement on a food product label distributed within the US may be regulated.
If you are new to "gluten free" labeling, you might want to read through the transcript of the 2005 FDA meeting on this subject: http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/glutran.html.
Also note that a "gluten free" statement would exist in parallel with the required statement of contained food allergens per Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004, http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/2lg-6.html#label

Re: Seal or Logo of gluten-free foods that gluten intolerant people look for
Dear CarolX, Craig H., MIREGMGR
Thank you very much for your inputs.
Our products is claimed to be gluten-free and allergen-free on label. We have prepared (gluten content test, control cross contamination etc) for the regulation to become mandatory. Is just that my company wanna go for extra miles to attract consumer's attention to our gluten-free foods. Therefore, I am looking for most recognized seal / logo for gluten-free.
anyway, CarolX reminds me of the "gluten-free" word on our label. it's too small. I should voice out to our marketing dept.
once again, thank you so much. would appreciate more input.
