Question Regarding OHSAS 18001

Any one here can help me with followling questions?

- who generated this ohsas18001 standards?

- who administers the standards ohsas18001?

- who give its accreditation to certification bodies/registrars?

- and who/how many registrars can do this ohsas 18001 certification now?

As I understand it, the standard is a BSI standard which was derived from the former British Standard BS 8800.

OHSAS is used for certification purposes, BS 8800:1996 is really only a guidance document. The UKAS establishes the criteria for a fully accredited certification system. 18001 is the standard, 18002 is the guidance document. From my understanding it was in its 4th draft in January of this year. It has not been developed thru the formal standards process. It is based on sponsership with BSI leading the way.
