OHSAS is used for certification purposes, BS 8800:1996 is really only a guidance document. The UKAS establishes the criteria for a fully accredited certification system. 18001 is the standard, 18002 is the guidance document. From my understanding it was in its 4th draft in January of this year. It has not been developed thru the formal standards process. It is based on sponsership with BSI leading the way.

The RvA (Netherlands) is working towards developing an Accreditation Scheme for third-party certification of Occupational Health and Safety Systems. Similarly, the KAB (South Korea) is developing an Accreditation Scheme
