Question Ford Transportation Suppliers

Are any of you folks providing transportation services to Ford? I'm doing a Q1 project and am looking for anyone else who is or has gone through Ford's QOS to Q1 program for transportation suppliers.

Sorry Marc,

I've been through QOS but not as it specifically pertains to transportation suppliers.

Might be a longshot, but have to accessed the web sites for some of the larger carriers? (Roadway etc...)

I worked with a small, family owned, trucking company at the end of '99 on ISO 9002 + Q1. I completed ISO and set up their QOS, but moved on before they had gathered the mandatory six months of data, plus they did not have enough history at the time to apply for Q1. I believe they have received it since. One reason for moving on was my boss wanted to charge something like $25K to help with QOS and my client was too smart to fall for it. I am still friends with the owner of the trucking company though.

What are your questions?

Yin Yang

Well, I guess I don't have any specific ones right now. Just looking for anyone else who has gone through it at this level. It's definitely a 'Mon & Pop' shop. With a few cousins and uncles thrown in. Ford has made some changes to their transportation supplier QOS => Q1 program, it appears, and of course ISO 14001 is now required.

Mine was a sister/brother ownership, parents still active but slowly moving out to retire. Owned 3 tractors, about 100 trailers, used about 50-60 owner/operators. Mostly machinery/equipment hauling, were starting some milk runs for Ford.

As I recall most of our measurables came out of the ISO requirements - delivery, customer satisfaction, etc. Auditor suggested cost/mile as another measurable.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I Say...

This place sounds to be about the same size. About 80%+ of their business (and has been for some years) is Ford 'milk runs'. No Ford - no business.

I appreciate your offer. So far so good. No immediate questions, but I'm sure some will arise.
