Re: Does Management Review need to be a Formal Meeting?
Does it have to be a formal meeting? I've found this to be true. I've tried going the route of putting together all of the data for our key processes by the process owners tracking their performances and also listing what actions are being/will be taken.......
DING!
Had to write a correction action during one of our TS surveillance audits.

Re: Does Management Review need to be a Formal Meeting?
Howdy to all,
In the past, I used a simple agenda as follows:
1. What are we suppose to achieve?
2. Did we achieve it? Yes or No
3. If Not, what are we going to do about it?
4. Who is responsible?
5. When will it be done?
Then we would review progress to goal at the next meeting. These could take as little as 15 minutes or as long as 2 hours depending upon the nature of the issue(s). All the inputs of the standard were addressed at any given point of these meetings and meaningful results were achieved.
The one thing I could never get included was if we answered "yes" to did we achieve the desired output, one would like to see if a read across to other aspects would be appropriate.

Can you list the specifics of the nonconformity? There is no requirement in ISO 9001 to have a meeting, so they must have written it against something else.

Re: Does Management Review need to be a Formal Meeting?
Actually since I stated that we did not formally sit down to review our system, but instead I met with each party, gathered the data that would be reviewed and action items that are to be taken... this was not counted as a "meeting". We did not comply with the requirement because we did not all "meet"....
So, my advice - get everyone together in the same room, teleconference, or webcast.. just to be safe...

Mike,
Safe from what? Standard says: "Top Management shall review......"
It does not say "Meet."

As has been already mentioned..... no "shall" to meet.
Unless...... you have internal documentation that says you will......

I'd definitely appeal that one.

Re: Does Management Review need to be a Formal Meeting?
C'mon guys, you know that it's not a real management review unless those folks spend at least 10 hours together, locked up in a room, him-haw around, have lunch and make about 3 bathroom breaks each.
