I Say... To shop is human, to splurge divine advertisement

There was this ad in the local newspaper which read, “to shop is human, to splurge divine!”. Is this right? Please comment.

Re: ads vs spending

When you splurge, you overspend; it's really reckless and irresponsible spending.

The question is 'divine' for who? The shopper might feel 'divine' instant and often short-lived (until the credit card bills arive) gratification. The merchant will experience 'divine' when they deposit the extra income in their bank account. Seems to me like the ad is leading shoppers toward instant gratification without any 'disclosure' about the potential long term effects. Kind of like 'the more you buy the more you save' ... when in reality it is 'the more you buy the more you spend'.

Well first of all it's an ad. Second of all it's most likely an ad to encourage you to spend.

When one splurge the "instant gratification" from this will give the spender a short-lived and delusional idea that they are invincible...until they see their bill.

So at the moment of spending maybe it's right...but the aftermath is not a pretty sight

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the topic is interesting and I'd like to ask your thoughts on companies that make any additional / hidden / unforeseen charges.
