Question Calibration Certificate - 'test report shall not be reproduced except in full'

How do you guys interpret the statement on the Calibration Certificate specifying that the test report shall not be reproduced except in full, without written approval of the laboratory(Note 2, ISO/IEC 17025 5.10.2 Test reports and calibration certificates).

Will the clause "except in full" implies that you can reproduce it without the Lab's approval, as long as it is full? I have seen other certicates without this clause before. Can somebody expound please.

Try not to make copies of the original certificate / test report as far as possible. The status of the instrument per your calibration label of the instrument must be good for all purpose. However in case you need to make copies, all the pages of the original must be made to form the complete information. I am sure you will appreciate this, because just a copy of few pages will make a different impact on the receiver of the copy as many a inference / comment / status details will be provided perhaps in the first or last page of the certificate. A partial test report is misleading and dangerous.

Hello dsagario,

Welcome on the first post

Yes you can reproduce the "Full calibration certificate", without any approval from the lab. Once the lab has issued the certificate, it is legally your property since you have paid for it, and you may make as many copies as you deem fit. But as indicated in the clause under reference, you can not reproduce 'selected part' of the cert., without the lab's approval.

There is a good reason for this rule. The 'selected part' of the certificate may be misconstrued or misused. Decision on whether the 'selected part' is safe from being misconstrued or misused rests solely with the issuer, id est, the issuing Lab, and hence the holder of the cert. is barred from pre-empting the issuer's prerogative.

Hope this helps

Umang
