Please Help! ISO 9001 and/or EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Comparison

Hello

I would like to understand when each one of the above should be used.
when I'm talking about ISO9001 I'm not talking about doing it for getting the certification but in terms of quality management.
for example - for the administrative and operational sector of a school (not considering the educational section that includes the teachers , teaching programs etc.) which method would you think should be more effective to achieve improved processes, efficiency in achieving quality goals?

does anyone know about written comparison between the two ?

Thanks
Daphna

Welcome to the Cove.

I think both are same. Why should 'getting the certification' be different from 'implementing a QMS "to achieve improved processes, efficiency in achieving quality goals". Unless you implement the QMS as per the relevant standard's requirements, it can't be (truly) certified in the first place.

Now if you are talking about EFQM, I would advise you to first go through ISO 9004:2000 (Guidelines for performance improvement) before resorting to any other model. However, ISO 9001 provides an excellent framework for implementing any such models intended for performance improvement.

Welcome to the Cove.

If you are referring to the education sector, I don't think EFQM is practically suitable as a quality management system for everyday use. ISO 9001 + IWA2 will be more appropriate (click for links).

ISO 9001 for Education Sector + IWA 2
