Please Help! Converting Best Measurement (BMC) to Calibration & Measurement Capability (CMC)

Hi all,

Can i get some help on the conversion from BMC to CMC?
I know there should be an extra column mentioning the instruments and the specific instructions that we should use but i would really appreciate if someone can point out what exactly to add into the column besides the things i have mentioned earlier?

As i understand, we have to state the measurment standards, calibration method, measurement conditions and reference documents.
For an example , say from 50MHz - 1.3GHz - my BMC is 0.089dB and i use a 8902A, 11722A sensor module to derive the BMC..how do i put it on my scope using the CMC?

I hope someone can guide me here?

Rgds
Ruben

Re: Converting Best Measurement (BMC) to Calibration & Measurement Capability (CMC)

Would this link help:

"Best Measurement Capability" is Ousted; "Calibration & Measurement Capability" is Favored

Quote:
By international agreement, the phrase traditionally used by calibration labs to describe the accuracy which they can achieve in their measurements is to be replaced during 2010.
And the links contain therein:
* BIPM-ILAC paper explains the reason for the decision
* ILAC circular
Thanks to harry for your informative Post and/or Attachment!

Re: Converting Best Measurement (BMC) to Calibration & Measurement Capability (CMC)

Dear Sir,
Thank you..
Thank you for the info.
I am finding it difficult to get samples of the conversion especially in the field of RF/microwave.

For an instance , for Amplitude modulation/Freq Modulation and Phase modulation measurements using the 8902A/S..the accuracy specs stata something like these..

for AM ,
Accuracy is given as 2% of reading + 1 digit

for FM,
Accuracy is given as 1% of reading + 1 digit

and for PM,
Accuracy is given as 4% of reading + 1 digit

but how do i present it in CMC ?
I know i have to mention the Parameter being calibrated, the range , the uncertainty and the instruments that were used to derive the CMC but i am still unsure about the values to be put.
Can we still be using 4% of reading + 1 digit as our CMC?

Rgds
