Unexpected changes - Problem with forum 'lightbulbs'?

Marc I do not know if it is because of changes to the code but betwen yesterday and today the light bulbs have stopped lighting and the signs for new posts inside the forums have dissapeared.
Is this just me or have others experienced the same problem?

Howard, that happened to me the other day. I found out that for some reason, even though my "cookies" are enabled, it did not recognize me as registered. At first I thought Marc had too many complaints about me and de-registered me. I had to manually log on (good thing I have my password on my monitor) and everything was okay after that.

I haven't done anything that should have changed any of the lightbulbs or such. Nor have I noticed a problem.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

db: Not to worry. Since starting the first 'forums' (threads) in 1997 only 1 person has been 'de-registered'. One person in over 4 years isn't a bad record and says we put up with a lot here.

I do know that on a person's local computer there are often issues of what is cached, cookie corruption and such which can lead one to believe it's the site because it only happens when they visit the forums. So far, the software has had very few bugs. Hopefully I'll get the stats 'module' working so that all the stats are 'real' (such as the Flags' page). Most of them are OK as long as you understand what's happening. For example, when it says a statistic is 'rolling', you have to know that it samples every minute. So - you may pull up the stats page and 15 minutes reload it and the number of new threads in the last 24 hours will have gone down bvecause some threads are now - only 15 minutes later - over 24 hours old (in minutes). I'm trying to label them i a way which makes them understandable.

Anyway, Howard, if you keep having problems let me know and I may be able to help. Maybe not.

I know on my peecee for some reason I cannot clear cookies, for example, by logging out. I know it's my peecee but I don't know what is causing it. It cleared cookies fine up until about a month ago. I've been too lazy to dig in to find out what the problem is and I haven't gone to the disk to manually delete the cookies. The peecee is running windows 98.
