Quality Management System Template (Quality Management Procedure document)

Hi Everyone - First Time User so please bare with me. I need HELP - and I mean I SERIOUSLY NEED HELP. We are going through a certification process at the moment which requires a Quality Management Procedure document - which I don't have. We are only a SMALL company - ten employees all up, which includes the Managing Director, the Factory Manager and myself. Does anyone know where I can locate a template for a small business?

I'm not sure what you mean by a "Quality Management Procedure". Are you referring to a Quality Systems Manual?

Hi Marc, yes, I believe it can be called that as well. Basically it is a Plan (or Document) that a company has in place that lists their Quality Policy, Document Control Procedure/s, Quality Control Procedure/s, Responsibilities of Management, etc.

Sure, we'll help you, but we need some more details to give you what you really need.

Here's some points to consider:

• "certification" for what? by whom?
• "Quality Management Procedure Document" is such a broad catchall phrase, you may as well be saying, "I need the Guiness Book of Records" when all you really want to know is the name of the highest mountain. It may be that you don't know the terminology of quality professionals, so you're just parroting a term you heard without understanding the possible scope of the term.
• Marc may have guessed that you need a "documented Quality Management System" which would include some or all of the following:

1. Quality Policy (as little as one sentence, as much as one page), disclosing the organization's philosophy of attaching quality to its goods and services
2. Quality Manual - a summary of your policies, describing your organization and how it plans, executes, and records actions related to quality of goods and services
3. Documents identifying Procedures and/or Processes related to quality of goods and services
4. Detailed documents describing how a worker should perform a process - some call them Work Instructions
5. Records of how the various processes in your organization have been performed
6. Documents recording your periodic evaluation of processes and the records pertaining to those processes to determine whether they are proceeding as planned, need to be improved or changed or can continue without change

• One point many may make throughout this thread is that many quality professionals do not believe it is a good idea to use a "template" to the extent that the only change you make to the template is to exchange the organization name in the template from "ABC Company" to that of your own company - simply because unless the template is from a company doing exactly the same business as you, with the same number of employees, including bosses, who are all clones of the [often fictional] company in the template, it will be more trouble than it's worth to try to operate your company to fit that template.

If what you meant are those commercially available templates (canned systems) where you just fill in some blanks like your 'organization name', then we are sorry to disappoint you.

Over here, we believe in tailoring a system to suit your needs. If you can give more details like what you do and perhaps add a process flowchart, some body here will be willing to guide you along.

Apart from Quality Manuals, we have samples of various procedures, WI, etc. Just check the Post Attachments List
