Is this procedure ISO 9001 Clause 4.2.3 Compliant?
Would someone mind looking at the attached file and tell me if you think it is ISO 9001:2008 compliant? Thoughts for improvement? FYI this is for a manual that must be ISO compliant but will not be used for ISO certification. Thanks.

No - it isn't - unless the people who implement it are very good and skilled in document control! My experience tells me that it needs more details, including something about WHO can authorize documents. You're also painting yourself into a corner making statements about unique titles/numbers etc. No format to follow? Everyone allowed to do their 'thing'? How about 'external origin' documents. Same procedure? Or n/a?
I'm sure others will contribute, but I know it needs more...

Hi !
I am not aware of the intent of this sentence, how could I interpret it?

Regarding the attached document, I would advise to give enough (more) details in order to any of your employee could follow it. Clear description of the Document states and the related activities can support the direction. The distribution and as mentioned before the handling of obsolate documents should also be included.
Revision control, change identification, document structure also should deserve more attention.

Re: Is this manual ISO 9001 Clause 4.2.3 Compliant?
I second Andy's opinion. Frankly, I found it rather confusing, mixing in lots of (unattributed) words straight out of the Standard with a very little bit of procedure. Just enough to be confusing, certainly not clear at all.

Re: Is this manual ISO 9001 Clause 4.2.3 Compliant?
Welcome to the Cove.
1. I think you are referring to a procedure (4.2.3) rather than a manual (4.2.2)
2. Do you have a copy of the standard? If you do, just ask yourself how can you meet the requirements of each of the sub-clauses under 4.2.3 - a to g? When you are able to satisfy the requirements of all those sub-clauses, your procedure will be compliant.

Re: Is this procedure ISO 9001 Clause 4.2.3 Compliant?
Thank you all. I will respond back in a couple days with a revision. As to the intent of this document. A customer is requiring an ISO compliant quality manual, calling out the specific clauses that must be met. 4.2.3 is the first clause I am working on. Again, thanks for all the suggestions.

An "ISO compliant manual" doesn't need to have anything stated about 4.2.3, other than a reference to the procedure for document control! Do you have a copy of the standard? Take a look and see what it says about the content of a manual. There's no need for any 'clauses' to be included or addressed. Frankly, what you'd put in the posted document shouldn't really be in a manual but a separate documented procedure.
