Dear All,

We are doing the study on capacity of QM service providers in one of the developing countries. The focus would be assessment of technical capacity as well as institutional capacity of QM consultants. Therefore would very appraciate your help in defining:

1/ What are the technical capacity that QM consultant should have ?

2/ What are the soft skills that QM consultants should have ?

3/ What kind of experience is preferable ?

4/ How QM consultants usually keep themself updated ?

Addtionally,

5/ What are the QM services that most appropriate for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) ?

6/ What are the potential serivices that could be developed and offerred especiaaly those for SME ?

Would appreciate if you could provide some information resources that we can refer to (similar survey, study, threads ...)

Thanks a lot in advance,
Tuan

ISO 21095 "Guidelines for the Selection of quality management system consultants and use of their services" has reached the CD3 stage - is your survey related to this?

Dear QualityManager,

Our study is not related to this standard (ISO 21095). In fact I would very appreciate if you can tell us how to get a copy of this standard. I have tried through information center of local National Standard Body, but unsuccessful.

Best regards,
Tuan

If you could pick up a copy of Junes 'Quality World' it has a few features on this topic.

Thanks for the info. But do you know if they have an online version of the "Quality World". It would be very difficult for me to get a hard copy from Vietnam.

Thanks,
Tuan

Most of the articles can be read 'on line'.

go to http://www.iqa.org/

and click on the Quality World icon at the bottom of the page.

Tuan,

The ISO/CD.3 21095 is under the control of the Netherlands Standards Body (Secretariat of TC 176/SC3). As usual the text in the standard says you should contact your national Standards body to get a copy - they may only have a copy if they are a member of TC 176 (or its subcommittees, I guess).

At the current stage this standard is issued for comments only, so you may be able to get a copy if you can convince them that your research may be of use in developing the standard.

If for some reason that fails, the website fo the Secretariat is www.nen.nl - as a last resort, you can try to get a copy via the GTZ (I suppose they have contact with the German Standards Body - DIN, I think).

Good Luck,

Dear M Greenaway,

Thanks for the info, I have picked up the article.

Dear QM,

I have sent a request to NEN, but havent got back the reply so far. It would be difficult to get thru DIN also as I was told that this committee draft still not available in ISO database.

Many thanks anyway.

Tuan
