Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
As the new Management Representative and Quallity Assurance Manager, I was brought on board because the company was not ready for the transition audit and was suspended as a result. I have few precious months to form a game plan, develop, prepare and schedule our transition audit and still have time to answer any corrective actions before the clock strikes midnight. I wonder how many registrants face the same issue out there.
On a second note, we are a Boeing Supplier but provide ground support equipment only. However, as a Boeing Supplier we are still required to be certified to AS9100C. Anyone else facing the same requirement????

Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
Just as an anecdotal note, this morning I went to OASIS to check the number of AS91X0:2009 certificates. Adding up AS9100C, AS9110A and AS9120A certificates, OASIS show 7,554 certified sites.
Still, there are 7,369 sites certified against the "old" versions of the AS91X0 standards.
The IAQG expects that a small percentage (<5%) of AS certified organizations will voluntarily drop their AS certificates.

Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
With a couple of weeks to go before the July 1st, 2012 deadline, there are around 9,100 AS91X0:2009 certificates and about 5,800 certificates issues to the older versions of the standards, according to the data available in OASIS.
I believe that the IAQG expects between 5-10% of the current registrants to let their certification lapse, instead of transitioning them to the new edition of the AS standards.

Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
Sidney, Thank you. Many companies let it slide until almost the last minute. I was teaching AS9100:2009 and AS9101:2010 Process Auditing. some companies caught on real fast and did a fine job, others stuck to their engrained "process" and had trouble. Some companies started and then dropped out. Why? I do not know not know. Thank you again, Julius

Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
Sidney,
Some of those AS9100B may be reissued certifications. One registrar I know of is telling it clients that because of their AS9100C audit review backlog they are reissuing Rev. B certs.

Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
Sidney, I do not understand Jack's comments. Are Registrars permitted to re-issue the AS9100, Rev B? For how long? Was the transition to AS9100, Rev C not extended for another year?
I still have many requests for the AS9100, Rev C Internal Auditor course.
Thank you. Julius

It boggles the mind...the CB conducts an audit to Rev. C of AS9100, but because their backlog is too long, they issue a "new certificate" to rev. B, without a technical review done and without an audit report (against Rev. B). Where is oversight when you need it? That should lead to a CB's suspension.

Re: AS91X0 Transition Deadline - New IAQG Decision - 2012
In my move to this new job it seems my new email didn't catch up so I missed some of the discussion on this and other threads. From my previous comment our CB suspended our company when we canceled our Transition Audit with them. I have since rescheduled for Sept 24-26 and our CB removed our suspension from OASIS. But.....come July 1st we will be re-suspended until we receive the Rev C upgrade audit. We will be one of the 5-10% of those companies suspended as Sidney stated in his post. IMO I suspect CBs will not be able to issue Rev B certs. That would make no sense. We have Rev B and will be suspended by 31 Dec if we don't have C. How would we be different than another company that received a Rev B review in place of C. If 31 Dec can't be made by CBs...change the cutoff date. Everyone knew this was going to be pivotal on the capacity of CBs to meet the dates.
