Hehehe... International Material Data System - IMDS

I've been searching for info on IMDS through various forums with no results!

Don't tell me no-one here has ever had the pleasure of trying to input product CAS data into this horrendously slow and tedious web based database?

(someone please tell me it's quietly passed away )

Sorry Dave. it hasn't passed away. It's getting bigger. Toyota has signed on to the program.
I'm in a mad scramble to get our product entered before the December deadline. ( for Ford).

Not dead? ****! Well, I can wish can't I?

Good luck in making the deadline - I've just changed companies and I've not used it in awhile - have they solved any of the system access and response speed problems yet?

Last time I used it (make that every time), I must have spent over half an hour just waiting, while entering in a datasheet for a very simple plastic part, that should have been just a five minute task. At this rate we'll still be entering end of life data when the vehicles have already reached their end of life. It's about time these big automotive corps. put the resources where their mouths are.

I haven't had any problems with access or speed. It didn't seem to be very user friendly, so I had to use the help desk quite often. Both with IMDS and Ford. Once you learn how to set up the initial entry and then learn how to copy it is a lot quicker.

Default AIAG alternative

AIAG has released a spreadsheet to harmonize the requirements of the multiple OEM’s. Some of the tier 1's decided to use the AIAG spreadsheet as its alternative method for IMDS compliance.

It's really much simpler to use, and I believe the customer can use it to dump it into the 'real thing'. Check with your customer if you can use it.

Check the AIAG website and click on the 'ELV directive '

Hope this helps,

S.

Dear friends,
I am on the way dealing with this ELV program. Right now, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford and may be GM request to my company by letter.
1. What should be the first, second and third step and so forth?
2. I contact third party lab to bring my product to analyse for residue level of Cr6+, Pb, Cd, and Hg. However, it's not clear right now for what is the referece testing standard, I shall refer to?

Please kindly help, if you have been in this situation.
