07/01/03 elsmar.com CANNOT FIND SERVER
Marc,
In case you did not know some people probably can not get to the temporary forums address via
elsmar.com/Forums
becasue I can't currently reach that page or the home page.
I only found the site today because I still had elsmar55.tempdomainname.com/Forums in my IE history.
I thought you might want to know elsmar.com may not be accessible today.
It seemed awfully slow around here!

I had the same issue with 16949.com/Forums but I, too, had the temporary address and got right here.

My old ISP just released the domain names. How this all works is real indirect. I'm working it all out now. Apparently GSP went ahead and dropped the domains from their DNS listing. Verio has to pick it up. I put the domains on my Verio account through a 'control panel' for my new account 30 minutes ago. I'm now sorting out to make sure i don't have to go to my registrar (one of those wild hair 'controls') to change the listed DNS server.
Hopefully by tomorrow everything will be pointing where it should be. This has been another day of phone calls and e-mails....

two members told me the same thing and I mailed them the link elsmar55.tempdomainname.com/Forums and it works. I had added it to my favorites and will overwrite it when there is a change. I enter the site from 2 different computors and 55.tempdomainname.com works just fine. Gotta have my daily visits. Ta Ta

Things got weird yesterday. I haven't visited the old server in a while and found it had crashed. Until it was rebooted it appeared my old ISP had disconnected it. Anyway, he rebooted it and so there shouldn't be a complete failure to reach at least the old site which has the forwarding link.
I got off the phone with Verio 15 minutes ago (spoke with them about 10 times yesterday getting everything sorted out) and they assured me all the changes have all been made. They said at their location Elsmar.com and 16949.com are already pointing to the new server's IP (which one might expect since it's their server farm). At my location (Cincinnnati - ADSL from Cinti Bell) I'm still getting the old IP.
If the fellow I spoke with at Verio is correct, by tomorrow AM all the DNS servers should be pointing to the correct IP. We'll see...
By the way, I upgraded to Beta 4 last night. Freddie from vB fixed the problem with gif thumbnails in posts not showing. But, I did the upgrade before I knew he had changed one of the php files so I *think* I overwrote the one he changed. At any rate, he said he is carrying over the fix to Beta 5 so if I did overwrite the file it will be fixed in the Beta 5 release (probably 2 to 3 weeks) as he is making it a bug fix. It's not really a bug per se - apparently although the server says it is enabled for gif thumbnails it isn't processing them correctly so he's calling for a .pnt thumbnail to be derived from the .gif file which does work.
