Hyperlinks - Step by Step Guide??
Hi to all of the experts that are about to help me,
Ladies and gents,
How do you place a hyperlink to past posts/threads in a post? For example: Someone asks a question and I know it is in another thread - how do I then place the hypelink in the post? I have noticed a few of us sub - 200's having this problem and having to spell out the reference in full (very time consuming). I have also noted that some newbies know how to do this and assume they have learnt from other sites. This is the only site I visit and contribute to so please help. I have already done a search for this and come up with zip.
Thanks in advance.

That will do it. Copy-Paste what is in the title bar of the thread you want to reference and chop everything off AFTER the t=XXXX (the XXXX being the thread number and the t being the identifier as a thread vs. p for post).
Make sure the box at the bottom (Options) for "Automatically parse URLs: automatically adds and around internet addresses" is checked.

...And if you want to use multiple links you can always open the Cove in two different windows, moving all over the Cove in one of them copying addies and then pasting them to your post in the other window... I often do that.

Quick and dirty way
Open the post you want to link to. Right click "properties". Shade and Copy the address, close it out and paste it in your new post. I do it this way because the address bar isn't always available and besides, I'm lazy Oh I forgot. You click on the Post number on the upper right hand corner of the post and open that particular post alone. Duh!

Greg - here's another way
1) open the URL where you want to link (Energy's example is good - I will use your post) and copy the address.
2) Go to either "Post a new reply" or "Advanced" and write your reply.
3) highlight the words in your text where you want the link.
4) click on the little globe icon at the top of the post window and when it asks for the address, paste in the address you copied.
5) Now the post should be linked and underlined for quick access without actually showing the URL.
At least I hope that's what will happen - I am about to try.

Ah-ha...now I have your secret Mr. Gefvenberg, (evil laughter....). Seriously, though, I would have never thought of that.
Combine this two window technique with using the instructions in Mr. Scott's post and you'll be able to join me in challenging Claes for the title of Exalted Grand Master of the Order of the Comprehensive Link!

Seriously.... Don't say things like that Ice... I laughed so hard I hurt my tummy and once again convinced my coworkers I'm certifiable. They are looking at me in a strange way again. You know... ->
