Question TL9000 Measurements for PC (product category) 5.3

Our company is seeking TL9000 certification. We recently compiled our TL9000 measurements for the first time in the DSSP software and found something strange. We manufacture power and distribution systems for the telecom industry. Quite a few of our products have embedded firmware (software) in them. We develop all of the firmware internally (in house). Anyway we determined, with outside consultation, that we should register for both hardware and software. The new DSSP has a template for product category 5.3 that includes both hardware and software. We used this template to encrypt our data, but when we did it came back with errors. It would not accept the software measurements under this category. After speaking with the Quest Forum and UTD, both said that we could not include software under product category 5.3. They stated if we wished to include software, we would need to take out another product category. My question to them was, "Why do you have a template for product category 5.3 if that includes software that cannot be used". I am still looking for the answer to this one. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. By the way our certification audit begins tomorrow, wish me luck!

Dbloom, Welcome to the Cove.

I wish I could help with your question but it isn't something I am familiar with. I know the others will be able to help so try to hang on.

What I can do is wish you the best on your certification audit. I'm looking forward to hearing how you make out.

Dave

Dbloom,

How did your certification audit go?

We are currently seeking TL 9000 registration.

I have found that even though QuEST meant a great deal of good with the TL requirements, initially they did not think through a great deal of what it implied.

Nevertheless, we have some heavy hitters in the telco industry as our customers so we need to get TL registered.

I feel your pain. I am new to this quality gig and starting out with TL was a bit overwhlelming.
