Default Page Numbering

The Humor (humour?) thread has approximately 65 pages. Let's say I want to look at page 31. I see that I can either jump to the first page or jump to the last page. And I can page forward/backward one page at a time.

Is there a "go to" function where I can type "31" and it will take me to page 31? I realize that all threads are not this long but it sure would be a nice feature. Maybe its there and I don't see it/don't know how to use it? I guess I need some help!

Thanks!

Here's what I do:
After clicking the little 1,2 or 45 to go to the next page you'll see something like this in the "address" box on your browser:
http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=7562&page=2&pp=15

Manually change the page=x so that it reads page=45 and hit enter. You'll go to page 45 of the thread.

As far as I know, at this time there are up to 6 pages of each thread listed in the forum listing and within each thread. It's definitely not a first page or last page only situation, but you are right that you cannot jump directly to page 34, for example, through an easy link. I'll look into that, though.

For now, if you look at the url you should see somethng like this:
PHP Code:
http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=3801&page=6
If you look, you'll see there is a thread number (in this case 3801) and a page number (in this case 6). You can plug in the page number of the page you want and go to that page. To go to page 31 you would change the 6 to 31 and press enter and it will take you to that page. On the other hand, if you see:
PHP Code:
http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=3801&page=11&pp=15
you can see the thread number is 3801 (t=3801 which links all the posts in the thread), the page number is 11 and the pp=15 is the posts per page.

Part of the problem in doing this is that the number of pages in any thread depends upon how many posts per page you have set. I believe the threads default to 15 posts per page right now but you can change that in your user options. So - if the forum default is followed, there will be X pages in a thread, but let's say you set your options to show 30 posts per page - there will be 1/2 as many 'pages' in the thread than if you are using the default 15 posts per page.

I'll put it on the list but no guarantees.

underneath the last post on every page is a page number index. You can click on the page you want. I don't know how this works if the thread has 65 pages though.

Thanks for digging me out of a hole, Marc. It occured to me on the drive home Friday that my hint might break something.

It keeps up to 6 pages showing in that link. When you have more than that it shows something like first, last and 6 pages 'near' you. Let's say a thread has 30 pages at 15 posts per page and you are on page 15. The page numbers shown will be something like "First | 13 | 14 | 15 | 16 | 17 | 18 | Last" (I'm not sure the page you are on is coloured - I put that in for 'emphasis').
