Dial Indicator (Analogue) Calibration Work Instructions

Can anyone help me out on work instructions for how to calibrate dial indicators? I have an idea, but I'm not sure its all I need. Thanks!

Best I can do - maybe give you some ideas.

1. Material Required
1.1. Cleaning solution
1.2. Supermic (XXX)
1.3. Magnetic base
1.4. Clean cloth
1.5. Calibration void if seal damaged sticker
2. Instructions
2.1. Calibration shall be performed in the Q. A. Laboratory.
2.2. Inspect and record as found condition prior to calibration. Record results on worksheet, W-11019A.
2.3. Clean indicator thoroughly using cleaning solution and clean cloth.
2.4. Visually inspect contact tip for wear, also check contact tip and screws in the back. Make sure they are tight.
2.5. Place indicator stem in the hole of bracket fixture of supermic.
2.6. Next push in on Indicator slightly until dial hand comes in contact with anvil of supermic and indicator reads zero. Tighten snug by turning screw on side of bracket.
2.7. Zero the supermic by pushing recall button and enter 0.0000, then push reset button twice.
2.8. Turn wheel on supermic inward until dial hand of Indicator is at one revolution.
2.9. Read the results from supermic and record on worksheet, W-11019A.
2.10. Continue to turn supermic wheel inward to second revolution, repeat 2.8, then to two and a half revolutions and record results on worksheet, W-11019A.
2.11. Next turn supermic wheel backward two and a half revolution to zero immediately after the inward movement, without resetting the indicator dial. (The maximum difference is known as "hysteresis").
2.12. Record as left results on worksheet, W-11019A.
2.13. Enter all results in computerized gage control post calibration file.
2.14. Retain worksheet, W-11019A, one day to ensure computerized file backup.

3. To Calibrate a Maximum Indicator Do The following:
3.1. Repeat section 2.1 through 2.6.
3.2. Turn wheel on supermic inward and to max. readout - record error worksheet, W-11019A.
3.3. Next turn supermic wheel backward to zero reading without resetting.
3.4. Record error results on worksheet, W-11019A.
3.5. If return to zero isn't at zero, push zero button on front of Indicator and turn supermic wheel outward and repeat 3.1 through 3.5 and record results on work- sheet, W-11019A. (If necessary to adjust, turn adjustment screw on back of indicator).
3.6. Enter results in computerized gage control post calibration file.
3.7. Retain worksheet, W-11019A, one day to ensure computerized file backup.
3.8. Calibration void if seal is damaged ; sticker must be on adjustment screw on back of indicator.
4. To Check Bestest Interapid Type Indicators, Do The Following:
4.1. Calibration shall be performed in the Q. A. Laboratory.
4.2. Set up Pratt and Whitney supermic with a magnetic base and special clamp to hold indicator.
4.3. Place Indicator in clamp on magnetic base and tighten. Bring Indicator tip in contact to anvil of supermic until reading is observed.
4.4. Rotate setting wheel of supermic clockwise until zero reading is on the Indicator.
4.5. Zero supermic by pushing recall button and enter 0.000, then push reset button twice.
4.6. Rotate setting wheel of supermic clockwise throughout travel of the Indicator.
4.7. Take reading at various increments and record results on worksheet, W-11019A (See computerized file for increments of particular Indicators).
4.8. Next turn supermic wheel counter clockwise back to zero reading on Indicator and record results on worksheet, W-11019A.
4.9. Continue counter clockwise (with supermic and Indicator both reading zero) through out travel of the Indicator, repeat 4.7, then counter clockwise to zero, and record results on worksheet, W-11019A.
4.10. Record results in computerized gage control post calibration file.
4.11. Retain worksheet, W-11019A, for one day to ensure computerized file backup.
5. Tolerance
5.1. Dial indicator shall be acceptable when within + least graduation to 2 1/2 revolutions.
5.2. Maximum indicator shall be acceptable when within + one according to graduation at full range.
