Gage Labels - Is the gage number on the calibration label enough?
ISO says that all gages must have a i.d. number. Is the gage number on the calibration label enough or does it have to be engraved on the gage. If so, how do we mark personel tools, of people who don't approve of an engraver used on their tools.

No, it does not. I suspect your current system may, but ISO 900x does not.
ISO 9001; 4.11.2(b) states:
identify all inspection, measuring, and test equipment that can affect product quality, and calibrate and adjust them at prescribed intervals, or prior to use, against certified equipment having a known valid relationship to internationally or nationally recognized standards.
ISO 9001; 4.11.2(d) states:
identify inspection, measuring, and test equipment with suitable indicator or approved identification record to show the calibration status.
Key words: 'or approved identification record' and 'suitable indicator.'
Records are the key. If the gage is traceable to a record by a 'suitable indicator,' you should be OK. The suitable indicator is entirely up to your organization's best interest.

Don
