Why send a questionnaire?

The only reason for sending a questionnaire out to a supplier would be if you have identified the aspect of "supply of raw materials or services" as being significant.

Even so I would recommend the company goes and visits and does a proper assessment of the impact of their suppliers aspects rather than create more paper and waste.

Just me on my waste saving kick today!

I am curious as to what the supplier is expected to tell the customer in relation to an ISO14000 Questionnaire.
  1. supplier has defined ISO14000 program?
  2. supplier's products and services comply with ISO14000?
  3. customer can safely use supplier's products and services?
  4. supplier is under indictment for toxic waste dumping?
I agree far too many folks waste forests [paper] in striving to save forests.

I'm not involved on ISO 14000 but I would like to make this question. Should be the public community and the Government competent body for ecology the customers for ISO 14000? Should be the suppliers of strategic products or critical services for ecology the vendors? (I'm sorry for my terrible English, but I'm not able to learn it). By Cavanna

By Cavanna
In answer to the two questions 1) the standard requires organisations to consider the community at large and governments as stakeholders or interested parties but does not call them "customers." The organisation should consider them when it is putting together the list of aspects and then consider them again when evaluating the significance of the aspects.

2) the standard does not deal specifically with "vendors" in the same way that iso 9001 does but the company should always ensure that suppliers of products and services are capable of meeting their needs - again refer to the aspect significance.

thank you very much for your explanation. I have another questions, please. One of our customers who uses our product that does have no impact on the environment has demanded us information on our certification environmental beyond that to the certification of the system quality. Its question is coherent for you? By (I'm sorry but I speak english like a scottish cow)

Don't worry, Cavanna....you speak English much better than the Scottish cow!

So, if I understand you correctly, your organization has ISO 9001 but not ISO 14001. Is this correct?

If yes, it sounds as if you have a Customer who is asking you for your ISO 14001 certificate, but your organization is not registered. If your Customer is demanding that you have ISO 14001, you might find this related thread interesting: Sony Green Partner .
