Title:         PART NUMBER DESIGNATION

Policy:   To assist with data processing, part identification and
          to avoid mix-ups between similar components, each part,
          material or component will be assigned a unique part
          number.

Purpose:  This procedure is to provide a consistent, organized
          numbering system for materials used in the
          manufacturing and servicing of the company's products.


Scope:    This procedure applies to the assignment of part
          numbers for all established components and materials
          listed on Bill of Materials or Service part lists.
          Trial-basis materials or components utilized for
          engineering purposes only are exempt from part
          numbering.


Procedures:

1.0  Number Designation

1.1  The part number will consist of six (6) digits consisting of
     a two (2) digit prefix and a four (4) digit part number.  Up
     to a four (4) digit alpha-numeric character suffix may be
     used for color or option designation.

     The number will be assigned as follows:

     Sequence  1st, 2nd  3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th       Suffix

2.0  Part Number Assignment/Record Keeping

2.1  Inventory Control will be responsible for assignment of new
     part numbers and for maintaining a master log of part
     numbers including purging of obsolete numbers.

3.0  Classification System

3.1  The following part number directory format should be used
     for assignment of part numbers:

          2-Digit Prefix Classification

          05-XXXX        Sheet metal parts
          07             Machined parts
          09             Molded parts
          11             Cabinetry
          13             Hardware and fasteners
          14             Arms, trays, stands and bases
          15             Casters, wheels, levelers
          17             Upholstery
          19             Paint, chemicals and glues
          20             Electrical wiring and components
          22             Printed circuit boards and ICs
          24             Lighting and fiber optic components
          30             Pneumatic components
          31             Tubing and hoses
          33             Pneumatic fittings
          35             Plumbing fixtures and components
          40             Product cases and foam padding
          45             Labeling-overlays, labels, forms &
manuals
          50             Shipping and packaging supplies
