TITLE:	VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS


SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all activities of the manufacturing and product development and ensuring the most feasible methods for achieving the most economical production of quality goods in a timely manner.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.	To ensure development of products in response to product design specifications and to ensure a quality production process that meets established standards and achieves desired product yields from the use of raw materials.  Assures all engineering and production processes comply with recognized Good Manufacturing Practices.


2.	Develops production schedules for all phases of manufacturing to ensure timely output of products in response to customer orders while maintaining efficient levels of inventory.  Controls allocation and use of personnel to ensure fulfillment of production schedules in all areas at the most efficient cost.  Determines production layouts and oversees all construction or expansion to production facilities.


3.	To ensure proper operation and maintenance of all production equipment in the plant and establishes and oversees procedures for the effective performance of production tasks and to supervise staff in the proper execution of those procedures.  Directs employee training and adherence to workplace safety policies and OSHA requirements.

4.	Makes recommendations for capital investments to maintain or improve the quality of the production process.

5.	Responsible for research and development of new product lines; supervises the job functions of project managers and engineering services to ensure timely, cost effective development of product designs/changes.  Coordinates with manufacturing in the development of processes necessary to produce new products.

6.	Provides monthly reports on product development, production levels, inventory levels and cost variances.




ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Directly accountable to the President and the board of directors through the President for the performance of all responsibilities related to production and product development.  Provides reports or verbal briefings on production and product development as requested by the President or the board of directors.

Supervises Production Manager, Engineering Manager and Customer Service Manager.
