Seeing as the 3rd edition is effective Jan 1 1999, START NOW is the best advice. Seeing as surveillence audts are 6 Months apart, I suggest you begin the changeover immediatley following your last surveillence audit of 1998. This gives you 6 mo to implement the changes.

AIAG has published a workbook of 2nd - 3rd edition changes. It is written using common editing format such as strike-outs and replaced text.

A suggestion to consider is asking original element team members review the workbook together for 3rd edition changes and respond accordingly. Or, the QSMR could prepare a summary of changes to spare the team the agony of weeding through the QS text. Since time is of the essence, more than one team should be working simulaneously.

Hope this helps, Kelly Speiser
