Friends,
I just want to know that what should be the
ideal frequency of internal audit for Managing Director or CEO of the organization.
They normally remain very busy in commercial
activities and show bit less intrest in quality system, once it is established.

Thanks,

Although QS requires every element be audited at least once a year, ISO9K:1994 states:

--> Internal quality audits shall be scheduled on the basis of the
--> status and importance of the activity to be audited and shall be
--> carried out by personnel independent of those having direct
--> responsibility for the activity being audited.

ISO9K:2000 states:
--> ...8.2.2 Internal audit
-->
--> The organization shall conduct periodic internal audits to determine
--> whether the quality management system:
-->
--> (a) conforms to the requirements of this International Standard; (b)
--> has been effectively implemented and maintained. The organization
--> shall plan the audit program taking into consideration the status
--> and importance of the activities and areas to be audited as well as
--> the results of previous audits. The audit scope, frequency and
--> methodologies shall be defined. Audits shall be conducted by
--> personnel other than those who performed the activity being audited.

So - you're open on frequency. However - most companies go the once a year route - I think that's pretty wekk accepted. Once a year.

I don't know that there is an 'ideal' frequency.
