Web Pages;
One problem with Web pages is that you donât know what the other guys are seeing. My webpage looks fine to me. Eventually I got everything to appear in the positions I wanted them to and they look right on my system when I view them in Netscape or Internet Explorer. The viewer might see something quite different.
I would appreciate if people would look at my webpage at http://indigo.ie/~isosys
and let me know if it looks normal to them. Are there any odd spacings, positionings, odd colors, etc? Also; What sort of an impact do you think it makes on potential clients? Then I thought we might discuss websites in general, with regard to ISO 9000.
ð Has anyone experience of putting documented systems on the web?
ð Any suggestions about consultants web pages?
ðÊHow does the web impact the quality system and vice versa?
ð Anyone like to throw in their questions or observations?

Kevin, I tried to make the email address into a link but it wouldn't do it. I'll sort it eventually. I don't know what I did wrong but, for me anyway, the web is like that. Some things work, others don't. Maybe it's because the wind's in the wrong direction or there's an 'r' in the month?
rgds, John C

Andy Basset;
I don't have your e-mail address. Leave it on here or try me at johncullen88@hotmail.com as an alternative to jc.iso.systems@indigo.ie

Hi John,

Your site looks pretty good in my opinion. I tried a bunch of different settings and everything held together, and you have used web-safe colours so there shouldn't be any problem there.

For the email address link, it's almost the same as a page link. Your line should go:

e-mail: jc.iso.systems@indigo.ie

As for impacts and impressions, they certainly make a difference to me. If I'm looking for a consultant, or a supplier of any kind, on the web I do use the appearance and content of their site as an indicator. If I find a poorly designed or poorly maintained site then I will tend to look elsewhere.

I'm just about to embark on putting our documentation on an intranet, so am interested in any further discussion.

Richard

Whoops! Didn't notice that html was turned on. For email line, use the same tag as for a page link, but use href="mailto:jc.iso.systems@indigo.ie"

Hi John C:

Tonight I visited your Webpage. It looks pretty well. It is simple (I mean, not complicated and practical) it is FAST ÁÁ(Most of the webpages sometimes are slow because of an excess of graphics).
Could be good idea to increase just a little bit the size of the fonts in the bottom (in the benefit of older people like me)

By the way , would be a good idea also to start a section to help each other to improve our websites(thinking of people like me that do not have expertise in web page creation)

Richard and Qualiman,
Thanks for the response. It's easy with a bit of help. I've enlarged the type at the bottom, even though, when I set it up, I thought there wasn't room. I've fixed the email and it works for me, when I'm on IE anyway. It didn't work on Netscape browser but my email on that browser is a hotmail address. I haven't time to figure this out since it's St Patrick's day and we've other responsibilities to address. Anyway, the proof will be if you guys can use the email link.
I agree, we should work on it. We might not know all the answers but, if we find the right questions we can work them out together.
thanks and rgds, John C
