Randy, When you click on "add your comments" as you would to post something, on the lower left side of the box where you type your message there is a link called "Smilies Legend". It's just beneath the red "*UBB Code is ON" link. Just type those characters as shown and they transform into those cute little guys. I could never figure out how that was done. I could have used a smiley a couple of times when I was "funnin". Check out the tongue on this guy.
