What I have tried to do is use the criteria as a guide post to implement improvement projects. This as an addition to the usual ISO and TSM stuff.

I printed the booklet out and gave it to the Big Boss here, and asked him if it would be something he'd like to do.
He has yet to get back to me. I'm not even sure he looked at it. Do you think it would be a good idea for a small job shop? I'm not sure about the $$. I do know that if we were to give it a go, all the work would fall to me (like I need any more). But I think it would be a good thing.
The stuff that I printed out from the website didn't give me too much informationi (except for costs) and I'd like to know how much work it would actually be. Any ideas??

Kim

Kim,

The Baldrige criteria is a very useful tool in an organization, small or large. Baldrige is based 70% on the Customer, and I can't think of a better reason (perhaps 100%) for that matter for an organization to exist. I guess it could be argued that an organization would exist for the benefit of everyone, workers and customers alike, but I would even go as far as to say that the focus should not create a burden to either and instill positives for both. Getting deep in here, so let me bail out.

Back to the group...

Hard to tell how much work until you 'measure your company' against the Baldrige criteria. Do a self assessment and from that you should be able to judge.
